The lower ratio of IFN-γ/IL-4 and IFN-γ/IL-10 after anti TB treatment in HIV positive patients could be due to immune exhaustion by HIV co-infection with a possibility of future development of TB in HIV-infected individuals through down-regulation of IFN-γ and IL-12 and up-regulation of IL-4 and IL-10. Here, IFNG is linked to tuberculosis.
