Unlike previous data showing an impact of KMP-11 antigen in the stimulation of effector IFN-γ producing CD4 cells, the stimulation of T cells after presentation of KMP-11 antigen by MΦs during infection did not significantly affect IFN-γ production by CD4+ T cells, suggesting that testing the efficiencies of an immunogenic candidate via delivery through MΦs may suffer as the MΦs could not be essential for the maintenance of effector T-cell response. The gene discussed is IFNG; the disease is infection.
