ABO and pancreatic neoplasm: The lack of the association of these SNPs with the ACE levels, which are located in an anterior part of this gene near a variant determining the O group, may result in a largely discordant association pattern of the genomically-deduced ABO histo-blood groups with each enzyme level (Figure 4b); for example, individuals with the OO group, which has been well known as being protective against pancreatic cancer [8], is similarly protective (p<0.001 in one-way ANCOVA) against the elevation of the P-LIP level compared to AA, but, in contrast, susceptible (p<0.001) to that of the ACE level.
