Previous observations show that upregulation of E-cadherin and a concomitant reduction in MMP-2/MMP-9 levels might negatively regulate cell proliferation, invasiveness, and adhesion of K1 papillary thyroid cancer cells and pancreatic cancer cell lines MIAPaCa-2 and BxPC-3 [28,29]. This evidence concerns the gene MMP2 and familial pancreatic carcinoma.
