Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) elicits several immediate proinflammatoy responses including CD14, Toll-like receptors, phosphatidylinositol-3'-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling, myeloid differentiation factor, nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-kB) transcription factors, and also promotes downstream b1 integrin function in tumor growth and progression thereby increasing the adhesiveness and metastatic capacity of colorectal cancer cells [72-74]. Here, CD14 is linked to colorectal cancer.
