Polymorphisms in three other genes (GCKR, NCAN and LYPLAL1) have been associated with liver fat accumulation and NAFLD (Speliotes et al. 2011), and the NAFLD risk variants of GCKR and NCAN associate additionally with fasting blood triglyceride levels (Speliotes et al. 2011). Here, LYPLAL1 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
