More importantly, with our strategy, we have been able to identify genes that have implications in metabolic pathophysiology in mouse and/or humans, including GPR120 (29), Rgs7 (2), and Nnat (58), that have been reported to be associated with human obesity in linkage and single-nucleotide polymorphism analysis. The gene discussed is RGS7; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
