Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), a 289-kDa serine/threonine kinase and a downstream effector of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt signaling pathway, was identified as a promising therapeutic target for the treatment of a number of types of cancer, including CCA (2–4). This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and cholangiocarcinoma.
