The commonly used inhalation anesthetic isoflurane has been shown to promote AD neuropathogenesis, including induction of caspase-3 activation and apoptosis (Eckenhoff et al., 2004; Loop et al., 2005; Xie et al., 2006a, 2007, 2008; Wei et al., 2008; Zhang et al., 2010, 2012). This evidence concerns the gene CASP3 and Alzheimer disease.
