When considering ALT > 200 IU/L as the measure of hepatitis disease progression, none of the biomarkers showed an independent association with the outcome, although subjects with TNF-α >2.3 pg/mL showed a 4-fold risk of progression in the unadjusted Cox regression model (vs. people with a value ≤2.3 pg/ml, p = 0.01); however, this was not confirmed in the adjusted model (Table 2).
