In that study, in which plasma samples were obtained from patients suffering from trauma, infection, vascular disease, renal insufficiency and venous thrombosis, Chandler and co-workers reported that, on average, 75% of Annexin V positive events were platelet-derived, whereas the present study, based on plasma samples from apparently healthy participants, report that less than 13% originates from platelets. This evidence concerns the gene ANXA5 and Venous thrombosis.
