An inflammatory chemokine of interest in this study, interferon-gamma inducible protein-10 (IP-10, CXCL10), belongs to the CXC chemokine subfamily and is known to play a role in inflammatory responses in several autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus [6], juvenile dermatomyositis [7] and SSc [5,8]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL10 and systemic sclerosis.
