These results indicate that neither TLR2 nor TLR4 were required for Leptospira-induced renal fibrosis, and suggest that the chronic carriage of Leptospira can be associated with a slight alteration of the kidney function, if the Leptospira load is not restricted by the presence of TLR2 and/or TLR4. This evidence concerns the gene TLR4 and renal fibrosis.
