Interestingly, one study failed to find a correlation between depression and raised CRP in a low-/middle-income country [55], whereas this association is routinely found in high-income ones [56, 57], sometimes in association with other chronic inflammatory immunoregulatory disorders such as allergies, IBD and autoimmunity that are increasing in high-income countries, but rare in low-/middle-income ones [1, 2].
