NPPA and diabetes mellitus: Further multivariate analysis indicated that community-acquired KP-bacteremic patients who were infected by strains expressing the HV phenotype (odds ratio [OR], 31.07; 95% confidence interval [CI], 13.55-71.22; p < 0.01) and DM patients with poor glycemic control (OR, 2.46; 95% CI, 1.27-4.77; p < 0.01) were at increased risk, whereas those who had a recent use of aspirin (OR, 0.17; 95% CI, 0.04-0.79; p = 0.02) were at a lower risk of acquiring KP-associated invasive syndrome.
