Ten (AKAP13, C1QBP, CHSY1, COL8A2, CYP1B1, FBN1, IBTK, MFN2, TMCO1 and TMEM248) of the 65 candidate POAG disease genes were highly expressed in both CPE and NPE, which might indicate overlapping pathobiological mechanisms of POAG in the two epithelia. This evidence concerns the gene TMCO1 and open-angle glaucoma.
