Given that the nerve injury-induced increase in spontaneous ectopic activity in the injured myelinated afferents [40-42] is believed to play a leading role in the genesis of neuropathic pain [1,43], rescuing Kv1.2 downregulation may maintain normal resting membrane potential and reduce abnormal ectopic activity in the injured DRG neurons. Here, KCNA2 is linked to neuropathic pain.
