After co-culturing with iRBCs, the mRNA expression of neural endothelial pro-inflammatory chemokines (IL-6, CXCL-8/IL-8, CXCL-1/GRO-α, CXCL-2/MIP-2α, and CCL-20/MIP-3α) increased more than 100-fold, highlighting the strong inflammatory component and the active role of the endothelium in CM pathogenesis [104]. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and cutaneous mastocytosis.
