Landi et al. screened out 57 SNPs within miRNA-binding sites from 104 candidate genes for colorectal cancer, found eight SNPs of them showing various Gibbs free energy of binding between the two alleles of each SNP, and finally demonstrated a SNP, rs17281995, within the miRNA-binding sites of CD86, as the risk-modulating variant for colorectal cancer [16]. Here, CD86 is linked to colorectal cancer.
