GALC and Krabbe disease: Globoid cell leukodystrophy (GLD), or Krabbe disease, is an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disease (LSD) caused by mutations in the galactocerebrosidase (GALC) gene leading to deficiency of the enzyme β-galactocerebrosidase, a key enzyme in the catabolism of myelin-enriched sphingolipids.
