Disease activity index (DAS) 28 is the most common composite measure in RA used for evaluation of daily RA activity and is composed of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) or C-reactive protein (CRP) as inflammatory parameters, swollen joint count (SJC) and tender joint count (TJC) for the 28 joints with or without visual analogue scale (VAS). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is rheumatoid arthritis.
