The GPS was recently modified on the basis of evidence that hypoalbuminemia in patients without an elevated CRP concentration has no significant association with cancer-specific survival (CSS).30 There is a considerable body of evidence supporting that the modified GPS (mGPS) can predict CSS in patients undergoing curative resection for CRC.33–35 To our knowledge, no study has investigated the usefulness of the mGPS in patients undergoing liver resection for CRLM. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is cancer.
