It is characterized by hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c), increased apolipoprotein B (apoB) and predominance of small, dense low-density lipoprotein (LDL) particles, features that are also present in conditions of insulin resistance [18,19]. This evidence concerns the gene APOB and familial hypercholesterolemia.
