CRP and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency: This association was no longer significant after adjustment for CRP, D-dimer, and vWF, suggesting that inflammation explained this greater CVD mortality, which is consistent with the finding that CRP is more strongly associated with the risk of fatal vascular events than nonfatal vascular events.28 Obesity was associated with greater risk of CVD mortality, which was attenuated after adjustment for established cardiovascular risk factors.
