The greater mortality associated with sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity (but not obesity) remained after adjustment for prevalent MI, prevalent stroke, HDL-C, SBP, FEV1, CRP, D-dimer, vWF, and weight loss (sarcopenic, HR = 1.34, 95% CI = 1.15–1.57; sarcopenic obese, HR = 1.44, 95% CI = 1.10–1.90). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and sarcopenia.
