In contrast, ΔpknE-infected macrophages abrogated the phosphorylation of Erk1⁄2 at 240 min (p<0.0001, for all the time periods), reduced the phosphorylation of p38MAPK at 60 min (p<0.0001) and selectively inhibited the phosphorylation of p46 subunit of SAPK/JNK at 120 min (p<0.0001) post infection compared to Rv-infected macrophages (Figures 1A–C).
