Regarding breast cancer, Alvarez-García et al. [64] performed an in vitro study and showed that melatonin may play a role in the paracrine interactions between malignant epithelial cells and proximal endothelial cells through a downregulatory action on VEGF expression in MCF-7, which decreases the levels of VEGF around endothelial cells. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and breast cancer.
