mRNA isolated from Broadmann Area 38 (BA38, temporal pole) of 11 AD and 5 control patients was converted to cDNA and analyzed by qPCR for NLRP2, ASB9 and NDP. The temporal lobe (including the temporal pole) is vulnerable in Alzheimer's disease, particularly in intermediate stages of the disease [41]. The gene discussed is NLRP2; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
