Additionally, in a recent report we have described that LOXL2 contributes in a Snail1-independent fashion to FAK signaling pathway activation in basal-like carcinoma cells (Moreno-Bueno et al., 2011), suggesting that FAK activation might contribute to LOXL2 mediated downregulation of cell polarity components and maintenance of the mesenchymal phenotype in those cells.
