This information, together with the recorded elevation of IFI16 in patients with autism compared to control subjects, could be supported by the recent work of El-Ansary et al. [28] and El-Ansary Al-Ayadhi [30], in which they recorded elevation of caspase 3 and caspase 7 as pro-apoptotic markers in plasma of Saudi autistic children. This evidence concerns the gene CASP3 and autism.
