Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide has already been administered to healthy human volunteers by investigators in at least five different laboratories (Warren et al. 1992; Hammond et al. 1993; Chiodera et al. 1996; Filipsson et al. 1997; Doberer et al. 2007) and to a patient with multiple myeloma under a U.S. FDA-approved protocol (Li et al. 2007) without any indication of serious side effects. This evidence concerns the gene ADCYAP1 and plasma cell myeloma.
