There were no differences in MMP-7 levels at baseline between those who died of cardiovascular/cerebrovascular events and those who died of other causes including those who died of cancer (2.96 [1.25–9.29] ng/mL versus 2.76 [1.57–9.14] ng/mL [median and ranges], cerebro/cardiovascular and other causes of mortality, respectively; p = 0.81). Here, MMP7 is linked to cancer.
