The ACCOMPLISH (Avoiding Cardiovascular Events through Combination Therapy in Patients Living with Systolic Hypertension) trial has shown that, in high-risk patients with hypertension, the combination of an ACE inhibitor (benazepril) and a CCB (amlodipine) is superior to that of the ACE inhibitor and HCTZ for the prevention of vascular events [39], while in Japan which FDC regimen is better to attenuate the risks of target organ damage and CV events remains to be established. This evidence concerns the gene ACE and hypertensive disorder.
