The percentage of circulating CD3+CD8-IL-17+ Th17 cells measured with flow cytometry (Figure 3A) was significantly increased in patients with active SSc (2.14 ± 0.89%, n = 13) compared with those with stable SSc (0.7 ± 0.34%, n = 32) and healthy controls (0.57 ± 0.49%, n = 24; Figure 3B). The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is systemic sclerosis.
