The expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines that were previously reported to be efficiently produced by CD16+ monocytes, such as TNF (FC 3.3 in the CD16− monocytes and FC 3.5 in the CD16+ monocytes) and IL-1β (FC 3.3 and FC 2.3, respectively), were similarly upregulated in both monocyte subsets isolated from patients with SLE (Table S4). The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
