Patients with 22q11 deletion syndrome, which disrupts DA-related genes (e.g., catechol-O-methyltransferase, COMT) among others have an increased risk for neuropsychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia-like psychosis, autism, and anxiety disorders (Karam et al., 2010; Jonas et al., 2013).
