It was reported that the C-to-T change led to the loss of a potential binding site for transcription factor AP-4 and that VEGF plasma levels in 936T allele carriers were significantly lower than those in non-carriers; besides, the T allele has been found to be associated with a reduced uptake of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose, used for detection and staging of breast cancer [15–18]. The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is breast carcinoma.
