NPM1 and acute myeloid leukemia: Other genomic abnormalities may accompany NPM1 mutations and have a prognostic impact in the NPM1-mutated patients, e.g., AML-NK patients without FLT3-ITD mutations and with both mutant NPM1 and isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) represent a favorable- risk subset defined by a specific mutational genotype, whereas patients negative for FLT3-ITD mutations who had mutant NPM1 without concurrent IDH mutations had a much less favorable outcome, particularly if those patients had concurrent mutations associated with an unfavorable- risk profile [28].
