Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation status has been shown to be significantly associated with tumor response to EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs)[1], [2], leading to the routine assessment of the presence of EGFR mutations in advanced non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLC), particularly adenocarcinomas[3], [4]. The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is adenocarcinoma.
