Indeed, in the xenograft animal model, the induction of CD40 expression on dendritic cells stimulates the anti-HCC response via (i) enhancement of interleukin 12 (IL-12) production and (ii) infiltration of HCC xenografts by specific cytotoxic CD8+ T lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells with high production of Interferon gamma (IFNγ) [29]. This evidence concerns the gene CD40 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
