Treatment of human prostate cancer (LNCaP) cells with the CB agonist WIN-55,212-2 showed significantly higher expression of both CB1 and CB2 receptors in these cells when compared to normal cells and interestingly a significant decrease in cell viability when treated with 1–10 μM of WIN-55,212-2 for 24–48 hours, whilst similar doses had no effect on prostate epithelial (PrEC) cells [78]. This evidence concerns the gene CNR1 and prostate carcinoma.
