HLA-B and acute lymphoblastic leukemia: In this study, the HLA-B*39 allele was found to be significantly decreased in ALL, suggesting a protective role for this allele; nevertheless, in the study from Klitz et al., he found this allele to be associated with an increased risk to develop ALL; it would be important to study high resolution subtypes of HLA-B*39 to better define the role of this allele in the development of ALL.
