Because the drug Tafamidis was recently approved to treat FAP [42,43] [42], and other tetramer stabilizing compounds [44,45] use these pockets to bind to TTR to prevent its amyloidogenesis, our findings question the use of these compounds to treat this form of cardiac disease, as well as other diseases that involve structural changes in the T4 binding channels. The gene discussed is TTR; the disease is heart disorder.
