DEK and breast carcinoma: Interestingly, some reports have indicated that DEK expression correlates with resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs like camptothecin, etoposide, neocarzinostatin, and doxorubicin, which is often used to treat breast cancer.20-22 In addition, recent reports have shown that DEK mRNA expression is up-regulated in invasive ductal breast cancers with particularly strong gene expression in high grade and late stage breast cancers, making it a potential new target in the fight against recurrence.5,20,23,24
