Jaiswal et al. [33] recruited 200 patients with bladder cancer and 200 healthy controls to examine the impact of IL-18 gene polymorphism on bladder cancer susceptibility, they found a significant relationship of IL-18 -137 G/C heterozygous genotype (G/C) with 1.96 folds risk to bladder cancer, however, this heterozygous genotype showed a significantly reduced risk for tumor progression among patients with bladder cancer. Here, IL18 is linked to urinary bladder carcinoma.
