Using Interpro (bioprofiling.de; [16]) we found that the list of genes that are highly expressed in cancer (group 6) is significantly enriched (p<10-6; Table S3) in proteins that contain ‘Alkyl hydroperoxide reductase subunit C/ Thiol specific antioxidant’ domains, ‘Thioredoxin fold’, and ‘Thioredoxin like fold’, whereas the genes that are highly expressed in normal tissues (group 1) did not result in specifically enriched protein fold(s). This evidence concerns the gene TXN and cancer.
