INS and Insulin resistance: Children with low vitamin E had significantly lower glucose (p < 0.1) and triglycerides (p < 0.05) and higher LDL concentrations (p < 0.05), and children with low zinc concentrations had higher insulin concentration and insulin resistance compared with children with adequate weight with low concentrations of these micronutrients (p < 0.05) (Table 5, Figure 1).
