To demonstrate that elevation of FGF9 protein in colon cancer cells was due to hypoxia-mediated translational upregulation, we stained HIF-1α, a marker of hypoxic cells, in the same 40 pairs of samples and found that HIF-1α was upregulated in the colon cancer cells (Figure 6C). This evidence concerns the gene HIF1A and malignant colon neoplasm.
