To test this hypothesis, firstly we evaluated the serum IL-6 levels, ovarian COX-2 and VEGF expression in normal rats; and then to assess the close relationship between PCOS, systemic inflammation and metabolic syndrome, we compared these factors in normal rats with PCOS animals; and finally, to discover the anti-inflammatory effects of HBV, we investigated alterations in these inflammation indexes, and eventually, the hormonal and histological changes of ovary in HBV-treated rats compared with PCOS ones. The gene discussed is PTGS2; the disease is polycystic ovary syndrome.
