Genetic mutations in AKT signalling pathway regulators have been reported to induce oncogenic transformation of the healthy human cell [3] and detected in malignant glioma and endometrial cancer and to some extent in prostate cancer [4, 5], non-small cell lung cancer [6], melanoma [7], hepatocellular carcinoma [8], and breast cancer [9]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is melanoma.
