Surprisingly, overexpression of DLGAP5 but not AFP was evident in 24.55% (54 of 220) of the HCC specimens (Figure 1C), suggesting that DLGAP5 might be a novel biomarker for HCC and that the simultaneous detection of AFP and DLGAP5 could improve the sensitivity of histological diagnosis to 88.64%. Here, AFP is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
